“The Baby Show” — Episode 109

Cerie announces her engagement during a gathering for Jenna’s birthday. When asked how long she’s known the guy, Cerie replies “…it will be two months in three weeks”. Liz begins to question her own status as a single woman and whether or not she will be a mother. She speaks with Jenna about this, and Jenna proceeds to tell all of the men in the office that Liz is looking for someone to get her pregnant.

Later that day, Liz sees Cerie in the makeup department getting herself made up. Anna, the makeup artist has her baby at work with her because her sitter is sick that day. She asks Liz to hold the baby for a while, so Liz takes the baby for a stroll around the building. Suddenly she realizes that she is no longer in the building, but is now in her apartment. She compares it to “highway hypnosis”. She hurries back to the office with the baby, and Pete defuses the situation.

“The Break Up” — Episode 108

Liz Lemon comes home to a disaster. Dennis has knocked several holes the wall in her living room in order to hang a TV on it. In addition to that mess, his cousin Teddy’s great dane is wandering around the apartment, and Teddy is in her bed. This is the last straw, and she demands that he finally leave. Later, she explains to Jenna that she’s given Dennis a week to find a new place.

Jenna is excited by the news and takes is out on the town in an effort to meet someone new. This does not go well, as Liz is extremely awkward around the men they meet. Jenna, embarrassed, lies to her and tells her that the bars close at 11:30pm and takes her home.

Tracy Jordan

Tracy Jordan

Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) is the star of “TGS with Tracy Jordan” (formerly known as “The Girlie Show”). He was hand-picked for the job by Jack Donaghy. Before starring in “TGS” he had a successful movie career, appearing in such films as “Who dat Ninja?”, “Honky Grandma Be Trippin’”, “President Homeboy”, “Black Cop/White Cop”, and “Fat Bitch”.

“Tracy Does Conan” — Episode 107

Jenna is scheduled to to appear on Late Night with Conan O’Brien to promote her upcoming movie, “The Rural Juror”. However, Jack has different ideas, and cancels her appearance, replacing her with Tracy Jordan. He explains that it is because Tracy is more marketable than she is, but as expected, she is unhappy about the change.

In true Tracy Jordan style, he makes matters difficult by deciding to go off of his meds. This news is horrifying to Conan, who didn’t want Tracy on the show anyways, due Tracy having tried to stab him during his last appearance. Conan speaks to Donaghy on the matter, but is rebuffed with a threat to make him do a Christmas special from Afghanistan every year until the war on terror is over. The staff scrambles to get Tracy his meds before the show, and Tracy falls asleep as soon as he takes his seat on Late Night.

Liz has finally decided that she is going to break up with Dennis. She is determined to do it as soon as she gets home. But, when she finally does get home, she stalls, and falls asleep on the bed while watching Dennis play Halo.

“Jack Meets Dennis” — Episode 106

Liz has taken back her former boyfriend, Dennis. Dennis has proclaimed himself “The Beeper King” of Manhattan, as he is last remaining beeper salesman. When confronted about why she took Dennis back, she explains that she did because he asked and it is convenient.

Jack believes that Lemon is living a life of mediocrity. He takes it upon himself to be her mentor. One of his first efforts to help her is to make reservations for Liz and Dennis at a fancy restaurant to help Liz recognize Dennis’ lack of class. Jack shows up at the restaurant to make sure she gets the point.

Meanwhile there are various staff issues for Liz to deal with as well. Tracy is disturbed because a newspaper reports that he is “normal”. In an effort to prove otherwise he gets a large tattoo on his face. Jenna gets botox and collagen injections in an effort to look younger, which proves to be a catastrophe. And Josh, after an unflattering sketch on the show, is severely beaten and possibly brain damaged by Elizabeth Taylor, who was extremely offended by his impression of her.

“Jack-tor” — Episode 105

Once again, Liz Lemon is juggling a couple of major issues. The first involves Tracy, who has decided that he is taking a break from rehearsals. He seems to be ignoring the cue cards, and this leads Liz to believe that he may, in fact, be illiterate. After confronting Tracy about her suspicion, he tells her that it is true - he can’t read. Liz offers to help Tracy make special work arrangements so that he can learn to read. After it becomes apparent that Tracy is taking advantage of the arrangements, and Liz sees him reading the newspaper, she realizes that Tracy has been lying to her about his illiteracy so he can get out of work. Liz confronts Tracy, and he agrees to go back to work.

Jack Donaghy

Jack Donaghy

Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) is “VP of of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming”. He is Liz Lemon’s boss, and believes in taking an hands-on approach to management. He has re-tooled “The Girlie Show” by insisting that Tracy Jordan be added to the cast, and has appointed himself as Lemon’s mentor. He has stated that his greatest achievement in life is the creation of the Trivection oven for parent company GE.

30 Rock Renewed

Variety reports that 30 Rock has been renewed!

NBC’s critically hailed “30 Rock” will roll on to another season.

Peacock has given an early greenlight to the Tina Fey-Alec Baldwin starrer from Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. Net’s hoping “Rock” will follow the pattern of other slow-building NBC comedy success stories in years past, including current hit “The Office.”

“I’m seeing so many parallels right now (between ‘30 Rock’ and ‘The Office’),” NBC Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly told Daily Variety. “I really believe it’s ready to break through.”

Reilly said NBC will continue to air repeats of the show over the summer and plans a major relaunch in fall. At least one major advertiser has already expressed an interest in helping promote the second season premiere, Reilly said.

“Jack the Writer” — Episode 104

Liz has finally had enough of the way Cerie dresses and the attention it attracts from the writing staff and cast. She decides to speak with her privately on the matter. This does not go as well as she had planned.

In addition to her problems with Cerie, Jack has decided to observe the writers’ room every day. He explains that this is part of the GE management program called Six Sigma - it requires that managers learn all about their subordinate’s jobs. Jack’s presence in the writers’ room proves to be a huge distraction, and the staff confronts Lemon about the problem.

Liz Lemon

Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is the head writer of “TGS with Tracy Jordan” (formerly known as “The Girlie Show”). She is from White Haven, PA, but has said that she wants to live in NYC for the rest of her life. Liz is a big Star Wars fan, but also seems to enjoy Heroes, Ugly Betty, and Elmer Fudd. Her best friend is Jenna Maroney.
