“Pilot” — Episode 101

TV

Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) holds the challenging position of the head writer for “The Girlie Show” – a live sketch comedy show on NBC. Liz has plenty of problems on her plate, but soon finds herself dealing with one more – Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin).

Jack has recently been promoted to the position of “VP of East Coast Television and Microwave Programming”, placing him directly over Liz and “The Girlie Show”. Lemon soon finds that although her show is doing well, Jack has ideas for improving the program – he intends to bring aboard movie star Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan).

Liz is hesitant to add Tracy to the cast, as he has a history of mental illness. However, she agrees to attend a lunch meeting with Tracy and his entourage. Before she knows it, she find herself bouncing around town with Tracy, ending up at a strip club called “Dark Sensations”.

Meanwhile, back at the studio, the show is going on without Liz, and Jack is taking a hand-on approach to that evening’s episode of “The Girlie Show”. Before long, Lemon discovers what is going on, and finds out that Jack has fired her producer, Pete (Scott Adsit).

Liz returns to the studio before the show is over, and puts Tracy on stage. She agrees to add Tracy to the cast, but has a few demands of her own for Jack, including bringing Pete back.
