“The Break Up” — Episode 108

Liz Lemon comes home to a disaster. Dennis has knocked several holes the wall in her living room in order to hang a TV on it. In addition to that mess, his cousin Teddy’s great dane is wandering around the apartment, and Teddy is in her bed. This is the last straw, and she demands that he finally leave. Later, she explains to Jenna that she’s given Dennis a week to find a new place.
Jenna is excited by the news and takes is out on the town in an effort to meet someone new. This does not go well, as Liz is extremely awkward around the men they meet. Jenna, embarrassed, lies to her and tells her that the bars close at 11:30pm and takes her home.
Jack, without actually every saying who it is, tells Liz that he is now dating Condoleeza Rice. He is troubled over the difficulties of a long distance relationship. After speaking with Dennis, of all people, in the men’s room, he goes to visit her in Kandahar and breaks up with her.
Dennis comes to the writers’ room to say goodbye to Liz. He reads aloud a letter he has written her. Although it is filled with obnoxiousness and is politically incorrect in parts, the staff ends up feeling more sorry for Dennis than they do for Liz. Jenna and Jack surprisingly suggest that she may want to reconsider her position. Jenna urges her to create a list of pros and cons, and Liz ultimately begins to think that Dennis may not be so bad after all.
Toofer and Tracy are at odds over racial topics. Toofer lectures Tracy about dressing in drag on the show, and Tracy decides not to play the character. But, when Josh plays the character, and gets a great reception, Tracy is angry. During their discussions, each ends up using the n-word in reference to the other. They both now have to attend sensitivity training. During the training session they are finally able to put aside their differences and work together.
Liz returns home for the night. She finds a note from Dennis, and appears to miss him. A few minutes later, he shows up at her door to see how she is doing. She invites him in for dinner, and it appears that they are going to reconcile. Just after he goes into the kitchen to get some food, he appears on TV. Liz is watching “Dateline: To Catch a Predator”, and it turns out that Dennis is one of the people they are busting during the episode. He runs into the room to change the channel, but it is too late. Liz is furious. He tries to explain saying “She said she was 16, but I could tell she was 22″. Liz finally throws him out for good. Liz and Dennis are finally over.
